Yesterday was such a special day. It was the first day of spring. The sun was shining. And we officially broke ground on the new Berkley Community School. There are so many people who helped us get to this day. We were overwhelmed with the show of support yesterday from our community, state legislators, the MSBA, PMA, and Taylor & Bruns. Thank you, Berkley! Onward we go into the official construction phase. See you at the topping off ceremony.

We are excited for the Berkley Community School Groundbreaking Ceremony tomorrow, March 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The weather is looking favorable, and we look forward to celebrating this special milestone with our community.

The ceremony will take place in front of Berkley Community School, between the front island and the preschool playground. Parking will be limited, so please plan accordingly. Berkley Public Schools will provide overflow parking at Berkley Middle School, with shuttle transportation to the Community School. If you plan to use the shuttle, please arrive at Berkley Middle School no later than 9:50 a.m.

Because this event is centered on our students, the full student body will be in attendance with their teachers and BCS staff. Students will be required to remain with their classroom teacher throughout the ceremony.

We hope you are able to join us for this exciting moment in the history of Berkley Public Schools.

This ceremony will mark the official beginning of construction for the new Berkley Community School, a project that reflects years of planning, community support, and a shared commitment to providing our students with a learning experience that cultivates a community of belonging, creates a culture of care, and promotes academic excellence.

We recognize that 10:00 AM on a Friday may not be the most convenient time for those who are working, and we truly appreciate the effort it may take to attend. The timing was intentional so that our students and staff could be present and part of this historic moment for their school and community.

Families and community members are all welcome to attend as we celebrate this exciting milestone together.

Parking will be available in the small parking lot on the north side of the school, but it will be limited.
