Frequently Asked Questions

Effective July 1, 2011 Somerset and Berkley formed a grade

9-12 regional high school.

The 20 year collaboration between Berkley and Somerset has benefited both communities by creating a diverse student body and adequate funding for excellent educational opportunities for both towns. Students have received a quality education at a comprehensive high school with excellent athletic and extra-curricular activity offerings. The long-term agreement has provided Berkley students with a sense of belonging to the Somerset community and has eliminated the uncertainty about where they will attend school.

A regional agreement allows Berkley and Somerset to share the responsibility of the educational programs for both communities and formalize the communication, decision making process and cooperation between the two towns. A regional agreement has the potential to create administrative efficiencies which might create savings that could be used to enhance educational programming, extra-curricular activities and/or professional development.
